For the fifth consecutive year, Kondex donated a full set of its KX7 concaves to the Wisconsin FFA Alumni Association’s annual online auction. This year’s highest bid came from Ryan Grohmann of New Athens, Illinois. Ryan’s bid of $3,635 fully benefits the Alumni Association while earning him brand-new concaves at nearly half the MSRP price! The Wisconsin FFA Alumni Association’s auction is one of its main fundraisers, and it is used for grants, scholarships, and local FFA chapter support.

The Grohmann’s operate a 600-acre grain farm after retiring their dairy farm operation 12 years ago. Ryan, the oldest son, learned of the auction while searching for concaves online. The concaves in their John Deere 9670 combine were starting to wear, and they wanted replacements that offered better threshing. With improved threshing as one of the main benefits of KX7 concaves, when he found the auction, he started bidding. On Monday, November 4, 2024, Ryan’s parents, Leon and Bonnie, picked up the concaves from Kondex after spending the weekend in Wisconsin. In addition to improved threshing, the Grohmann’s are also excited about the half-width design of KX7 concaves, their easier installation, and the greater flexibility they offer.

“This is the second out-of-state auction winner that’s found us through an online search,” commented Kondex Manufacturing Engineering Technician and Section 10 WI FFA Alumni Council Representative Jim Schneider. “In 2021, one of the bidders was from Ukraine. They weren’t the highest bid, but the potential logistics had they won prompted us to require the winner pick up the concaves from Kondex.”
