We couldn’t have scripted it any better. On a recent snowy day, Kondex associates competed in our Chili and Soup Cookoff, a tradition started in 2000 and popularized in recent years. With 17 entries on 1st shift and 6 entries on 2nd shift, the smell in the lunchroom was warm and welcoming throughout the day.
2019 1st shift Chili and Soup Cookoff winners are (L-R) Rob (3rd place), Diane (1st place), and Sheri (2nd place).
During their lunch break, associates had the opportunity to sample the various entries and ultimately cast their ballot for their favorite dish. To round out lunch, others brought various desserts, toppings, and sides that included homemade bread and butter! The top winner on each shift walked away with a trophy and gift card. On second shift, the second and third place winners are husband and wife who had made a bet beforehand: the champion between the two of them would not have to do laundry for a pre-determined amount of time.
A to Z Vending, John Deere, and Uline graciously donated door prizes and supplies for the event. Six lucky participants went home with a new lunch box or bag, backpack, John Deere cookie jar, Milwaukee Brewers goodie basket, or party bar cooler.
2019 2nd shift Chili and Soup Cookoff winners are (L-R) Jenny (3rd place), Shawn (2nd place), and Gary (1st place).
Kondex Human Resources Representative Kelly Peterson summed up the day’s events: “Thank you to all who supported the 2019 Kondex Chili and Soup Cookoff! This year’s event was a huge success. We raised $370 for the Lomira Food Pantry to help those in need.”
Kondex associates are already discussing what dish they can compete with next year!
