This year marks 20 consecutive years that Kondex has proudly awarded five scholarships to seniors at Lomira High School. The recipients are chosen based on their academics, future field of study, career goals, as well as participation in extracurricular clubs such as Future Farmers of America (FFA) or Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA).

President Jim Wessing stands with scholarship recipients (L-R) Sarah, Alexis, Gretchen, Tyler, and Zach.

The 2018 recipients include Tyler Giese, Sarah Gruenberger, Zach Prunty, Gretchen Puls, and Alexis Schalk. As future students of UW-Platteville, Tyler will be pursing an engineering degree, while Sarah will study horticulture with plans of becoming a landscape designer. Awardee Zach is seeking a degree in electromechanical technology from Moraine Park Technical College. Gretchen will be learning about the field of ecology (specifically biology) at UW-Fond du Lac, and recipient Alexis will study biology at UW-River Falls with a career goal of veterinary medicine.

Kondex President Jim Wessing was on hand for the scholarship presentation and had this to say about the recipients: “I can’t express enough how impressed I am with the respectful and ambitious students at Lomira High School! Each year poses a challenge to narrow down the field of applicants to just five, as there are many very deserving candidates. Congratulations and best of luck to the entire Senior class!”
